Cory + Cera

In the last few months, I have grown to ADORE couple sessions. I absolutely love love (guess my Enneagram 4 is really showing through lol). I am a huge sucker for love stories and that is one of my favorite things about this part of my job.

Though this particular blog is stepping away from the styled shoots I normally post, I wanted to share a couple session I recently did since that is what I have been finding so much joy in so here we are!

From the moment my time with Cory and Cera began, these two were so giddy and I loved it. Every moment with these two was spent sweet talking and giggling and it made this romantic's heart so full. What I loved most about this though was that it allowed me to capture photos that not only were "cute" but photos that truly captured the essence of their relationship. Trust me when I say that I know the stress of trying to be organized and pose perfectly for photos, but it is just the opposite of that- the raw, candid moments- that make the best photos.

Before I go any further, I need to give a quick shoutout to the Kemp family for allowing us to use their beautiful land for this shoot. I have been around this particular field for quite some time and have grown to love it but I fell even more in love with it during this shoot. When your clients want to shoot in a field, you find them a field and to say we were blessed by this land is an understatement.

The goal of every shoot is to create a memory and with the open space of the field, I just could not resist a little game of tag- at least for the couple anyways. These are always fun pics to take but the best part is seeing the couple fall more in love and create memories to go along with their photos.

As I've already said in this post I absolutely LOVE love. Being able to witness two people grow wild about each seriously gets me in all of the feels. But as I am sitting here even now and thinking about the beauty of people falling in love, my mind is drawn to how even more beautiful is God's love for us.

About two years ago, my boyfriend Joseph and I were at a Johnnyswim concert (for those who don't know, Johnnyswim is a husband/wife duo band- 11/10 recommend giving them a listen!) Something that really tugged at my heart even more than their beautiful music was the way Abner (the husband) looked at his wife in complete adoration as she sang a solo and an beautiful one at that. The look he had on his face as he watched his wife sing was one of pure awe and amazement, as if it was the most beautiful thing he had ever experienced. It was in that moment that I realized that's how God looks at us, his beloved sons and daughters, when we worship.

This moment, though it was not related to photography whatsoever, shed a new light on the way I viewed love. It is such a wild thing to me that God gives us a glimpse of His love for us through the earthly loves we experience. It draws me back to Psalm 23:6 that says "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,". The word "follow" here translates to the Hebrew word "radaph" meaning to chase after or pursue which perfectly illustrates God's love towards his children. Just as a man chases after the heart of the woman he loves, God chases after the heart of his beloved- me and you.

Love, in its purest and rawest form, is the greatest gift from our Father who is Love and I pray that I get to document it for as long as I live.
